IINFACTS – Instituto de Investigação e Formação Avançada em Ciências e Tecnologias da Saúde was created in 2012 as a result of the fusion of two complementary research centers of CESPU: the CICS (Health Sciences Research Centre) and the CITS (Health Technologies Research Centre), both created in 2007.

IINFACTS mission is to develop high quality basic and translational research to understand and solve complex issues of health and socio-economic relevance, combining an interdisciplinary practice with a broad activity of research dissemination, while promoting advanced training and supporting the teaching of postgraduate courses at CESPU’s schools.

Currently, research activity is developed within the THERAPEUTICS RESEARCH GROUP, guided by the following IINFACTS strategic objectives:

i) to investigate the causes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of human diseases by breaking the boundary between basic and clinical sciences;
ii) to reinforce the involvement in advanced training;
iii) to promote dissemination and valorization of research outputs through knowledge transfer to users and to society; and
iv) to foster the internationalization of its research.
