Degree in Biology (1987) and a PhD degree in Life and Health Sciences (1993) at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Paris-Est Créteil (ex-Université Paris 12), France. Associate Professor of Cell and Molecular Biology at the Instituto Universitário de Ciências da Saúde (IUCS, CESPU). President of Scientific Council of the Instituto Universitário de Ciências de Saúde. Director of PhD program "Ciências Biológicas Aplicadas à Saúde | Biological Sciences Applied to Health". Director of the Instituto de Investigação e Formação Avançada em Ciências e Tecnologias da Saúde (IINFACTS). Principal Investigator of the "Cancer Research" Group, at the Institute of Research and Advanced Training in Health Sciences and Technologies (IINFACTS).

Research interests: 

Genetic and molecular mechanisms of cell division; Mitosis and cancer; Mitosis-targeted anti-cancer therapies; Screening for small molecules with anticancer potential; Novel anticancer strategies.
